We have been waiting to print some new shirts with our new logo we designed for Jimmy Current! Today we did a short run with some WOMENS/LADIES/GIRLS Shirts…

Unfortunately we don’t have photo’s for every step of the process, we are sort of all over the place working on a bunch of different things and don’t really think about taking pictures of ourselves to post up anywhere… We are trying to change this for those of you who actually do care to see what we are doing, and have some other ideas in the works that we are playing with but don’t really like making any promises…
If you are unfamiliar with the process of silk screening it is really quite fun. First we made a logo up, tweaked it in Photoshop, and printed it to transparencies (since with this logo we are doing a 2 color process it requires 2 screens and transparencies). We take a clean screen in our darkroom that we concocted, apply the emulsion to it, and put it in our screen rack totally blacked out overnight. We then take the emulsified screen, place the transparency upon it, and put it under our light for about 15 minutes i believe, this burns the image into the screen which allows the ink to pass through. We will be doing another batch and will try and remember to take some photos of the whole thing for you in case you are interested…
Having that out of the way it’s time to take it to the shop, our Garage, also the same place we have our lights and PA and practice in.
Okay, Action!!
First we must tape off the screens, the edges and any marks that ink might sneak through.
Then apply the ink to the screens, as you can see already done here…

A quick check of our wits and a little cleaning before starting, since we are so organized and everything…

THE DOCTORS IN!!! Can’t forget the trusty latex gloves, for the greasy hands of course, don’t want to ruin the precious merchandise…

A quick shot of the first screen with White Ink, taped off ready to roll…

And of course the screen with the Black Ink, also ready for action…

Look at that flawless technique, proper angle with the right amount of pressure…

This is how it looks after a few passes of white ink…

Now for the second color, the black ink, again, marvel at the technique, a skill acquired through intense military training…

And voila, two color Jimmy Logo ready for action…

Thumbs Up Baby!!!

Just in case you missed the previous photos, here’s another one, on the hanger, ready to fit tightly to your body

Testing a different color as we changed shirt colors… We wanted to go for a pink, but, although it looks like it, actually was more salmon then anything, so we went with the red instead for now…

There the white on black…

Forgot to snap some photos curing the ink with the heat gun on the pink shirts… This is a tedious part of the process right now, but has to be done… once again, exquisite technique acquired through rigorous training.

Here goes the red ink…

And Voila!!

and again, hanging for your viewing pleasure…

Next comes the clean up, which can get a bit messy, shockingly… sadly we were in the heat of the action and were unable to snap any photos, we will try and be better next time
We will have more to come, this was just a little test run as we work out some things… Don’t like rushing ahead and ruining good merchandise…
We will have some more Ladies shirts soon with some different colors and styles as well a Mens shirt run with a little larger Logo…
Please check back to see when they will be available for purchase, please check our store now for other styles and images…
